HRDF: How did you discover the original track ?
DI: When I was digging into Brazilian music and "sambistas" aka samba masters, Paulinho Da Viola came up real quick, for the obvious reason he is a living legend !

HRDF: Why did you choose to edit it ?
DI: The percussions & voice of the intro are breathtaking (to me at least), real deep and almost electronic in its regularity and depth. I often used it in my sets as intro, outro or transition, and eventually decided to make it pump some more, twist it and give a dirty & dark touch to it.

HRDF: What is your relationship with the art of edit ?
DI: A good one haha, an open relationship, with no frontiers. Some people only believe in the "slight touch" editing, but honestly I don't care, to me it's more about enhancing with respect an aspect/instrument/sample of a song/artist/both. For example I made a mash up of two songs of Rage Against the Machine, remixed it downtempo style with cumbia percussions and hang drum sounds : 3 different universes, but I am quite proud of being the one connecting them : Da-iguana – Cumbia-against-the-machine-ratm-double-edit . In the end to me it's just about having fun, making people smile while respecting the artist and its legacy.
